I have found it effective in helping new actors get their foot in the door. eg characters include -  detective/cop/ncis, authority figures, boss woman, quirky office characters, period tv/films, fantasy, doctor, lawyer etc.

NEW ACTORS CONSULTATION

If you are fresh to the industry and don’t know how or where to start. Having worked on both sides of the camera, and in both casting offices and a top acting agency (as well as spending so much money when I first started), I know and understand the many direct pathways of getting an agent or getting a start in this industry. We’ll analyse where you are at and where you want to go. I will share my knowledge. This 1hr session will include what you need to approach an agent, as well as some agency names you can contact.

I have been shooting headshots and portraits for over 15 years now, and directing perhaps even longer than that. Having worked in many casting offices while I was training to be the best photographer I could be, I got to be friends and experience first hand the selection process, as well as how a casting person decides to choose someone new for a role based on a photo.

The Australian film industry being a small industry with an over saturated amount of actors has pushed me to find an advantage for my actors when shooting headshots - I constantly listen to casting directors advice and processes, listen to past clients who have gotten in the door (to work opposite Chris Hemsworth based on one of my photos!), listen to clients who have gotten new opportunities and have thus developed a style that is unique to my skill as a director and photographer and storyteller.

Storytelling/Filmmaking and humans/characters are my passion. My shoots are outdoors in natural lighting (natural light contains a very special energy) where I search for locations that can bring out the best of you, or a character you have always dreamed of playing. We shoot like you are already living these characters on a TV show or film. We shoot to get you into the room for these characters - you and your agent are thus ready with a headshot that will inspire when the brief arrives.

I have also been known as the “fix it” photographer. American agents who can’t seem to get the right shots for their Australian clients (who work in America) send their clients to me when they are visiting Australia.
